DURAN DURAN FORCED TO RESCHEDULE EUROPEAN SUMMER TOUR DUE TO SINGER SIMON LE BON’S VOCAL PROBLEMS
July 1st, 2011
British rock band, Duran Duran have today announced that they are being forced to cancel their upcoming European summer tour, that was due to start on Thursday 14 July in Dublin, Ireland and run through mid September, due to lead singer Simon Le Bon’s ongoing vocal problems. Doctor’s believe that Le Bon damaged the muscles controlling his vocal chords during a show in Cannes in early May of this year, causing him to temporarily lose the top part of his range. With continued physiotherapy and a rigorous treatment plan, the singer’s medical team are certain that he will return to full health in the near future, but as the exact timing of this cannot be predicted, they are recommending moving the European dates so as to avoid disappointing fans at the last minute.
The band members are devastated at the news that the shows will not go ahead as planned and are keen to try to reschedule as many dates as possible for later in the year or early 2012. While they wait for Simon’s full recovery, they are working together in the studio, rehearsing, to assist with the rehabilitation process.
The postponement of the ‘All You Need Is Now World Tour’, in support of the band’s thirteen studio album, which was scheduled to kick off in the UK in May, marks only the second time in the band’s 30 year career that they have had to move a number of shows for any medical reason. Today’s announcement has been a particularly hard one to make, as Simon has improved dramatically since the incident in France a few weeks ago, and he feels that he’ll be back at 100% capacity shortly. What the band members do not want to continue doing, however, is moving or canceling shows at the last moment as they recognize how difficult this is for both their fans and the teams promoting the dates. With this in mind, they have agreed to move the entire European summer run and will not be putting anything back in the calendar until Le Bon is in full voice.
The full run of upcoming European concerts is listed below. The hope is to reschedule as many of these as possible, so fans should hold on to their tickets that will be valid for the new dates. Details will be available as soon as the band are able to secure venues on www.duranduran.com, together with the local promoters’ websites.

Speaking from the UK today, where all of the band members met to discuss the fate of the tour, singer Simon Le Bon said “This has been an extremely difficult decision to make as the injury I seem to have sustained is an internal one and so no-one can tell me exactly how long it’s going to take to mend completely. Every day I can see an improvement and each week I recover a part of my upper range. What the doctor’s don’t want me to do, however, is risk any further damage, so they are saying I need to take some more time away from shows to get back to full strength. If we knew exactly when that might be, we wouldn’t have to let this entire run of dates go, but what we feel we can’t keep doing is moving shows piecemeal – as it’s just not fair on the fans. I am lucky that this has never happened to me before, in thirty years, and that the injury, whilst extremely frustrating is nothing more serious. I am doing everything I can to work through this and get back on track as soon as possible. We have an incredible production we’ve been working on for this tour – and the new songs are sounding great. This couldn’t have come at a worse time – but I am trying to be philosophical about my recovery as there’s nothing else I can do.”

DURAN DURAN POSTPONE FIRST FIVE EUROPEAN SHOWS ON THEIR ‘ALL YOU NEED IS NOW WORLD TOUR’
Paris, Den Haag, Brussels, Copenhagen and Stockholm to be rescheduled as soon as possible
Following the postponement of the band’s ALL YOU NEED IS NOW UK arena dates, that were scheduled to start three weeks ago (on May 18), due to lead singer Simon Le Bon’s vocal problems, the band are now having to reschedule the first five dates on their upcoming European tour, slated to kick off in Paris this weekend (June 10). Le Bon has been advised by his medical team that he needs to continue to rest his voice in order to fully rehabilitate his vocal range and avoid further damage.
The band members are devastated to be losing additional shows and are keen to get the dates rescheduled as soon as possible. Fans should hold on to their tickets, which will be valid for the new dates.
Doctors are working on a treatment plan for Le Bon that will hopefully see the group resume shows in Helsinki on Saturday June 18.
The dates being rescheduled are as follows:
Paris Grand Rex June 10
Den Haag ADO Kyocera Stadium June 11
Brussels Forest National June 12
Copenhagen Tivoli Gardens June 14
Stockholm Cirkus June 16
Bass player, John Taylor, said this morning “You have no idea how disappointed we all are at the news that we won’t be playing this weekend. We have been holding on to that hope while we waited to hear from the doctors. We know what this means to the fans, so many of whom are traveling tremendous distances to see us. It’s hardest on Simon who is doing everything he can in terms of a recovery plan. We feel utterly powerless over the situation, as all we can do is wait for his injury to mend. Our hope is to start up again in Helsinki.”

DURAN DURAN POSTPONE REMAINING FOUR SHOWS ON UK TOUR:
Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, and Sheffield to be rescheduled, together with the other British concerts already lost
May 29th, 2011
Following a consultation with both a vocal coach and his team of ENT specialists today, Duran Duran singer, Simon Le Bon, has been advised that he needs to continue to rest his voice while his laryngeal problems are treated. In light of this news, the band have been forced to reschedule the remaining arena dates on their UK tour, slated to have taken place this week in Bournemouth (31st May), Cardiff (1st June), Manchester (3rd June) and Sheffield (4th June).
Fans should hold on to their tickets and can expect news of the rescheduled dates within the next few days.
Devastated by the news that they will not be able to resume the tour as planned on Tuesday, Simon said “I was really hoping that things would have improved enough by today to have allowed us to continue with the tour, but having spent two hours with one of the specialists, I have been advised that I need to hold off for about another week. I know how difficult this has been for all of the fans, as we’ve been postponing shows with very little notice, in the hope each day that the improvement would have been significant enough for me to sing again without risking any long-term damage. I am now focussing on getting back for Berlin – which is on June 8th.”

DURAN DURAN FORCED TO POSTPONE SOLD OUT ELECTRONIC BEATS CLASSICS SHOW IN BERLIN
NEW DATE LOCKED IN AT LARGER VENUE
Show moved from Thursday 26 May at The Admirals Palast to June 8 at Tempodrom
On the eve of his scheduled departure for Germany, following the cancellation of the first five dates of Duran Duran’s UK tour, singer Simon Le Bon was told by his specialist this afternoon that he needs to continue to rest his voice for the next two days, as his laryngitis improves. This means that the band have been forced to reschedule their sold out Berlin show originally planned for tomorrow night at the Admirals Palast (Thursday 26 May). The new date will play on Wednesday June 8 at Tempodrom in Berlin. Tickets for this larger venue, priced at 34 Euros (plus fees), will go on sale on Friday 27 May at 11.00 am at www.eventim.de.
The band members are hugely disappointed to have had to postpone their German show – which would have marked the start of their ‘ALL YOU NEED IS NOW World Tour’ – but are confident that Simon will be fully recovered within the next few days, and are relieved that they have been able to find a replacement date so quickly to enable them to continue with the rest of the world tour as planned.
All fans should hold on to their tickets for the Admirals Palast show, as these will be honored for the new date and venue.

DURAN DURAN POSTPONE NEXT THREE UK SHOWS – BIRMINGHAM, NOTTINGHAM AND LIVERPOOL – AS SINGER SIMON LE BON WAITS FOR LARYNGITIS TO IMPROVE
Following today’s specialist appointment, singer Simon Le Bon has been advised that he needs to continue to rest his voice for the next few days, as his laryngitis improves. This means that the band have been forced to postpone their next three shows originally scheduled for Birmingham at the LG Arena on Saturday 21 May, Nottingham at the Capital FM Arena on Sunday 22 May, and Liverpool at the Echo Arena on Monday 23 May.
The band members are hugely disappointed to have had to postpone these next three shows – which would have marked the start of their ‘ALL YOU NEED IS NOW World Tour’ – but hope that Simon will be fully recovered within the next few days, and able to continue with the rest of the UK arena dates as planned.
All fans should hold on to their tickets for the above concerts. Details of the rescheduled shows will be forthcoming within the next couple of days.

DURAN DURAN
Die Pop Ikonen geben zwei exklusive Shows in Deutschland bekannt.
18. Juli 2011 LEIPZIG Parkbühne
All You Need Is Now" produzierte.
All You Need Is Now!
Karten zum Preis von 55,00 Euro erhalten Sie unter 0234 9471940 und im Internet unter www.LB-EVENTS.de .
