The evening event will also be hosted by Stephen Fry and will culminate with a headline performance by Duran Duran.

Over the last thirty years the band have topped the charts around the world, with 18 American hit singles and 30 in the UK. With a global presence that guarantees them huge concert audiences on five continents, they have sold more 100 million records worldwide. The band’s keyboard player and founding member, Nick Rhodes, will also be interviewed as part of the Mobile Entertainment keynote session in the conference programme at the Mobile World Congress on Wednesday 17 February 2010.
The afternoon awards presentation is open to all Mobile World Congress conference delegates, award nominees and all accredited press attending the event. Tickets for the evening celebration party are on sale now at the online registration point for the Mobile World Congress, which you can access via www.mobileworldcongress.com/registration/registration.htm. With lots of news coming from plenty of different sources, we thought we’d give a brief update as to what the band is up to:
John is in New York this week working with Mark Ronson on Mark’s upcoming album. As more information becomes available, we will post it here. John’s also participating in Ted the Lab’s contest for an up and coming band from Australia to work with some amazing artists (including JT!). Visit www.tedthelab.com to sign up!
As Simon blogged, he spent some time writing in Los Angeles with songwriter Cathy Dennis. He also hunkered down for some writing with Nick from the Kaiser Chiefs, and continues to work on lyrics from home in London.
Nick is hoping to get TV Mania – as “threatened” in several Ask Katy’s – out in 2010. Watch this space for more.
Roger will be blogging next week, so we will leave his update all to him (check the WRITING portion of the site)…
While there are no tour dates planned at the moment, please keep checking the site for updates!

- also entsteht hierdurch kein Nachteil.
Sollte jemandem beim surfen über die Seite etwas ungewöhnliches auffallen meldet Euch bitte bei BAT, VertigoGirl oder mir.

MARK RONSON TO PERFORM WITH DURAN DURAN AT TWO UPCOMING SHOWS – LONDON’S LOVEBOX FESTIVAL AND EDINBURGH CASTLE
July 8th, 2009
DURAN DURAN have today confirmed that MARK RONSON will make a guest appearance with them at both their forthcoming concert at Edinburgh Castle on Thursday 16th July, 2009, and at London’s Lovebox Festival, where they will headline on the 18th July.
The Edinburgh Castle show, along with DURAN DURAN’s appearance at LOVEBOX two days later, are the band’s only two UK dates this year, as they continue writing and recording material for their new album.
The collaboration between Ronson and DURAN DURAN this summer follows a stunning performance they all did at Le Cigale, in Paris, last June, for which Ronson reworked songs from across the band’s catalogue into a giant, one hour ‘megamix’ that they then performed live together.
The spectacular French show was hailed by critics as a “stunning” and “inventive” musical collaboration, following which it seemed clear that the two parties would work together again. Citing the show as “one of the most surreal moments and definitely one of my highlights…” Ronson said “Duran Duran were my favourite band when I was a kid.”
Such mutual respect between the immensely talented musician/DJ/producer and pop legends, Duran Duran, flourished into a writing and recording partnership that has resulted in Ronson working on DURAN DURAN’s follow up album to Red Carpet Massacre (which is set for completion later this year). Working between two different studios in London, Ronson has already spent several weeks with the band, and for one of the new tracks invited “Kaiser Chief”, principal songwriter Nick Hodgson to collaborate.
With sales of more than 70 million records, no less than five major lifetime achievement awards (MTV VMA’s Q Magazine, The Brits, Ivor Novello, Spanish Onda’s), 30 UK Top 30 hits, 18 US Top 30 hits and an extensive catalogue of timeless songs, Duran Duran continue to push the boundaries, finding interesting collaborations in both music, art and fashion.
Working with Mark Ronson is a natural next step for a band who continue to challenge themselves with each new phase of their career.
Details of Ronson’s appearance with DURAN DURAN are being kept under tight wraps, but festival organizers say that fans will be enthralled and delighted with these unique and special performances.
DURAN DURAN will headline the LOVEBOX Festival along with NERD featuring Pharrell Williams, Groove Armada, Friendly Fires, Simian Mobile Disco, Florence and The Machine, Ladyhawke and Fat Freddy’s Drop, before returning to the studio.
Supporting DURAN DURAN in Edinburgh will be BRIT Award-winning FLORENCE & THE MACHINE.
