Duran Duran in the Mail on Sunday

Why (Andy) Taylor left, we don't know. Nor, so they maintain, do his bandmates. Always the slightly odd one, inscrutable behind his dark glasses, he didn't even send them a transatlantic fax, as he had upon his previous exit. Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor(none of the Taylors are related) had gathered in New York for a recording session with the two 'Tims' who currently rank among pop's hottest properties - Justin Timberlake and his producer, Timbaland.
"Andy didn't make the date,", says John Taylor, speaking for the first time about the split. "I am not going to put forward my theories as to why he didn't make it. What I am going to say is that he didn't, and for us that was difficult.".
"We had gone from producing ourselves to working with Timbaland, probably the greatest producer in the business, and we were all very much looking forward to it. On top of that, a week before we were due to begin recording, we got a call from Justin, asking, "Can I take part in the sessions? I would like to write and sing on one of the songs.". It was very exciting for us, a tremendous opportunity.".
"So, there we are in the studio, but no Andy. And day by day, we didn't know if he was coming. Andy lives in Ibiza-he's not the easiest guy to get hold of because he doesn't answer the phone. In the meantime, here's Justin, here's Tim, we have a steaming groove going, but no Andy. I don't think anybody could really say for sure why he didn't make it. I have not even spoken to him since before that session.".
"What has happened is like a divorce. You know, by the time you are in the office discussing it with the solicitor, you realise it's been over for at least a year. We were no longer able to work together, and that was that. There's no point in pretending anything different."

Aber wenn er es schon anspricht, ich würde gerne seine Theorie hören.
Warum spricht er sie dann an, wenn er sie für sich behält.
Ich versteh nicht, warum das über die MailonSunday laufen muss. Hätten nicht gerade die treuen Mitglieder des Fanclubs das neue bandfoto exklusiv oder als erste sehen sollen? Soweit ich weiß, gibts für die Mitgliedschaft recht wenig.
Im Laufe des Tages tauchen bestimmt Scans des kompletten interviews irgendwo auf. Ich fahre jetzt zur Familienweihnachtsfeier und überlege mir auf dem Weg ein Geschenk für meinen Wichtel.... |

Jetzt legen sie ja richtig los mit Promotion...  ... aber irgendwie kann ich mich nicht so richtig darüber freuen 
Das sieht mir schon ziemlich nach 'Lückenfüller' aus, weil das neue Album dann doch noch 'was länger dauert - und damit die Leute DD nicht ganz vergessen, werfen sie jetzt noch mal eine Astronaut-Special-Version unter's Volk.... 
Irgendwie hab' ich gaaaaar kein gutes Gefühl dabei....

Das gleiche wie BAT denke ich auch. Etwas komisch wird es mir auch.
Aber mal nicht negativ denken. Soll nur die Leute einstimmen auf den nächsten Nr. 1-Hit.
Meine Freundin besorgt mir auf jeden Fall die CD, man weiß ja nie, ob es die Letzte sein wird oder nicht. |

Nette Idee, wieder falscher Zeitpunkt.
Kurz vor Weihnachten wird das Lager aufgeräumt und wie auf der Mini-Tour alles zum halben Preis verkauft. Altes Zeug, nichts neues!!
Nach über einem Jahr einen discount Preis für die limited edition über einen Zeitungsvoucher zu verkaufen, während andere Bands reguläre Best ofs auf den WEIHNACHTSMarkt bringen, ist schon komisch. In der Fülle der Neuerscheinungen und der ganzen "We Love Take THat" Euphorie im Mutterland des Fußballs, geht das eh wieder unter. Die Cd wird ein Collector's item für Fans werden. Warum sollte sich John Sausage (Mail on Sunday Leser) ein Astronaut Tourbook kaufen? Weil er die CD gehört hat?
Hätte alles etwas mehr Sinn gemacht, wenn die Mini-Tour auch Station in UK gemacht hätte. Als Anreger zum Kartenkauf eine Live CD VOR der ansonsten sinnfreien Tour. Aber die führte ja nicht durch England. Warum eigentlich??
Anyway. Denn sie wissen nicht , was sie tun. |

Eigentlich wär´s doch mal Zeit für eine Live-DVD mit den besten Konzi-Ausschnitten 2006. Das wär doch mal was. Aber ich glaube, da können wir lange drauf warten.
Ich hol mir die CD auf jeden Fall.
Hoffe auf das Album im nächsten Frühjahr... und bleibe optimistisch. ***grübel***  |
